Investing Literacy Seminar

INVESTING LITERACY Level I

(For Education Only)

Summary

Format: Participants attend five weekly 90-minute live interactive online sessions and are asked to complete short tutorials before each session. Class size is limited to twelve.  There are some minor technological requirements involved in virtual meetings.  Be sure to check in advance of registration.

Content: This program is designed to familiarize attendees with the basic concepts and language of investing. By the end of the program, learners should have a rudimentary understanding of the following concepts and terms.

Inflation
Risk/Return
Compounding
Expansion/Recession
Growth, Value, Income
Precious Metals
Sectors/Industries
Technical Analysis
Liquidity
Bonds
Cash
Interest Rates
Dividends
Real Estate
Volatility
Fundamental Analysis
Indexes
Stocks
Fees
Diversification
Commodities
ETFs/Funds
Tax Concepts

Individualized: The sessions will also, from the beginning, attempt to present successful investing as an extension and expression of personality and self; this essential perspective is often missing in conventional treatments of the subject.

Program Culture: Throughout the program, learners will be strongly encouraged to ask questions very specifically to overcome the reluctance many investors have (at their great cost) to get clarity about terms or strategies they do not understand. Learners are welcome to participate using pseudonyms or first names if this facilitates participation.

About the Instructor: Bill Hecht is a Graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the American Graduate School of International Management. He has over 20 years experience in financial markets and has held multiple FINRA securities licenses. For more than ten years, Bill has taught college courses in Personal Investing, Personal Financial Planning, Portfolio Management, and Security Analysis. Mr. Hecht has conducted over a thousand hours of live online instruction as an educator and tutor. He even had his own small one-hour financial radio show in 2006 featuring internationally known experts on financial markets.

Cost: US$ 279.00 includes live sessions and all course materials (digital only) plus one free hour of optional tutoring (no investment advice can be given). Each learner will receive a physical certificate of completion, though at this time there is no educational credit available for having completed the course. All sessions will be recorded and learners (or spouses, parents, etc.) are welcome to review lessons from their live sessions. Learners who miss more than two live sessions will not receive the certificate. No refunds after the third session.

The first available date will be scheduled as soon as eight (8) learners are scheduled, subject to interest and availability. Please complete the form on this page to reserve a place. Registration will take place when there are at least eight interested and available parties for one time slot. At that point, registration will require a $50.00 dep0sit.
